University of Guelph OVC Medical Surgical Learning Centre

CSL has been hired as the Construction Manager, to oversee this  transformative initiative  that involves the complete demolition of the existing Building #183 and the construction of a new, purpose-built, approximately 32,000 square foot, two-storey facility with an additional mechanical penthouse. The new building, designated as the OVC Medical Surgical Learning Centre (Building #184), will be constructed on the same site and is designed to meet the evolving needs of veterinary education and community healthcare delivery.

CSL will oversee the construction of a facility that integrates advanced clinical skills surgical training spaces, cadaveric surgical laboratories, and dedicated areas for the Community Healthcare Partnership Program (CHPP). The building will also include office and meeting rooms, animal runs and kennels, locker facilities, break and lunch rooms, and other essential support spaces to ensure operational efficiency and comfort for its users.

In alignment with the University’s sustainability goals, the project will incorporate high-performance building strategies, energy-efficient systems, and low-carbon materials. The design includes provisions for Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) construction and future integration of a rooftop solar photovoltaic array, supporting the University’s commitment to net-zero carbon readiness and innovative building practices.

This project is currently in pre-construction.
