Conestoga College Tollgate Technical Skills Centre

CSL was retained as General Contractor to deliver a comprehensive interior renovation at the Tollgate Technical Skills Centre (TTSC), transforming the existing facility into a modern post-secondary learning environment capable of supporting Conestoga College’s expanding programming. Through a licensing agreement with the Grand Erie District School Board, the renewed facility positions TTSC as a key hub for technical and skilled trades education, helping address workforce demands across the growing Brantford and Brant County region. The centre welcomed its first College-Within-a-School cohort this September in Electrical Techniques, with additional Ontario college certificate and diploma programs planned to follow.

The project involved the complete modernization of instructional and support spaces, including the Electronic Techniques Lab (Room 1068), associated areas such as Tool Storage (1068A) and Data Closet (1092), along with classrooms, washrooms, and shared student spaces. Extensive upgrades to architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and audiovisual systems were undertaken to improve functionality, safety, and overall learning conditions while bringing the facility up to current standards. During construction, the owner expanded the project scope to include exterior signage, asbestos abatement, and corridor improvements, ensuring the renewed building presented a cohesive, safe, and fully updated environment for students and staff.

With enhanced technology, refreshed learning spaces, and improved infrastructure, TTSC is now equipped to support a broader range of hands-on training and technical education programs, strengthening educational pathways and workforce development opportunities within the community.
