Cambridge Old Post Office

This General Contracting project included a complete historical restoration on of the existing 6,300 SF Post Office as well as the construction of a new 6,800 SF addition on which cantilevers over the Grand River. The addition includes a restaurant and library space, two elevators, stairwells, and a rooftop terrace. Extensive shoring and foundation work was required as the building ties into the existing river flood wall and abuts the neighbouring structures. This project was built working toward LEED Silver designation and complies with all codes and regulations to meet accessibility standards.

Now completed, this new “bookless/digital” library offers an engaging community space with superb views of the Grand River and the historic surrounding downtown Galt area. This project was intended to propel Cambridge and its citizens into the digital age and to continue to support the growing needs of the community.
